The business and tourism hub of the Turks and Caicos Islands is familiarly known as ‘Provo’. Two thirds of the country’s residents live here and the island also features some of the country’s top resorts on the beautiful and award winning Grace Bay beach.
Grand Turk is a quaint island blessed with miles of quiet sandy beaches and dozens of old colonial buildings. There are several resorts, small hotels, rental villas, guest houses and bed and breakfasts available to stay in. Grand Turk Cruise Center is also located here and there are several uninhabited cays nearby just waiting to be explored.
Known in the past as the ‘Garden Island,’ North Caicos has always been the bread basket of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Wooden sloops were built here to transport crops from the island’s luscious farms to the other corners of the country.
The largest island in the Turks & Caicos chain, Middle Caicos has an area of 48 square miles. However, Middle Caicos is also the least populated island with less than 300 residents. It is a very lush island suitable for agriculture.
This is one of the smaller islands in the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is known for excellent scuba diving, deep sea fishing and bone fishing. South Caicos waters are pristine and full of sea life including dolphins, manta rays, eagle rays, giant grouper, turtles and a wide variety of sharks.
